Justice Michael Kirby

In Australia, we have been embarrassed on the international podium by the comments of our High Court judge, Justice Micheal Kirby. His comments about America's "obsession with 9/11" and comparing the number of people who die of aids everyday is a personal opinion that doesn't belong in the courtroom.

My point regarding this issue is that dying of AIDS, is a personal choice, the choice of having unprotected sex and suffering the consequences of this risky behavior.
On the other hand, dying in a terrorist attack is having no choice in the matter.

It's irrelevant to discuss human deaths in numbers and statistics comparing fatalities caused by AIDS in comparison to any other fatality including war, car accidents, drownings or fire.
One would think that somebody holding a position of a High Court Judge, would be able to see the difference.
