Khalid's Confession

I been sitting back and waiting for the public outcry resulting from Khalid's confession.
And nothing not even a whimper. It seems that with confessions, timing is everything and getting someone to confess three years after being captured is obviously a non-event.

So, I ask myself, what went wrong? Why did it take three years to squeeze a confession out of this guy. I've been watching Jack Bauer on 24 and he doesn't have a spare millisecond to wait around so he gets his confessions fast, I mean really FAST.

I guess if you've got plenty of time on your hands, you can subject the captive to sleep deprivation. That would mean getting a confession in a week or two.

Hanging someone by the ankles out of a window twenty stories up always seems to work in the movies. Quick confession guaranteed.

What about knee capping, or drilling into the shoulder, again from 24, seems to work miracles?

Simulated drowning is good.

Sodium pentothal?

Pulling out teeth, from Marathon Man (without anaesthetic) was always good for me.

I could go on and on but my point is obvious isn't it? If there was an imminent terrorist threat about to happen, then the U.S interrogators would have missed it altogether, their methods are too slow and too soft.

Maybe their techniques of interrogation were borrowed from Monty Python. You know the comfy chair and the soft cushion. "NO NO, not the comfy chair!!!" But that really belongs to the Spanish Inquisition and we are a much more civilized society today.

So, do I feel safer now knowing that those in charge take three years to extract a confession?
Absolutely NOT.

It seems that Jack Bauer, the one man CTU army only exists only TV. What a shame.

So, when and if Osama Bin Laden is finally captured, how long will it take to get any information out of him? Will we have to suffer another 9/11 whilst the authorities pussy foot around, reading him his human rights, and serving him halal food?

Americans are of a different mindset.

During WWII we kept tens of thousands of German prisoners here in South Texas where they ate better food than was availible to the surrounding community. They were also allowed all the comforts and activities of a fancy resort.

The end result was that most didn't want to go back to Germany and many immediately applied for citizenship as soon as the war was over.

It seems that we still treat our prisoners this way, even though the militant islamic mindset sees our kindness, halal food and comfy chairs as our weakness.

I'm not sure torture is the way to go, I would like our government to remain somewhat righteous and not fall into the slippery slope of mistreating and torturing prisoners.

There probably isn't a good answer

Personally, I would blast loud polka music 24/7 into their jail cells until they talked.

I don't know what to say ...
It is so many aspects in the picture and I don't know if I believe what is said under torture.
So many innosent people have been sentenced to death, while the real criminals goes free.

I dunno... Maybe the soft blanket, as well as the comfy chair, might get better results.

Seriously, these terrorist prisoners ought to be told that things like food, water, shelter and sanitation are not rights, but are contingent upon verifiably honest cooperation with US authorities.
