Children by IVF, buy one and get one free!

This week storm has been raging over the story of an IVF birth that has left the customer less than satisfied.
We all know that babies are just commodities right?
We all know that we expect what we paid for, nothing more and nothing less. As a wise consumer that is what we've been told to expect.

The story so far,

TWO lesbians suing a fertility doctor after one of them became pregnant with twins yesterday hit back at claims they should not have had access to IVF or given up both girls for adoption.

In the first case of its kind in Australia, the women are suing prominent Canberra obstetrician Dr Sydney Robert Armellin for more than $400,000 in the ACT's Supreme Court for implanting two embryos instead of the requested one.

The amount sought would cover the cost of raising one of the twins, including $158,000 for a private Steiner school education in Melbourne.

(The birth mother)
She was quoted in The Canberra Times as saying: “The experience of my pregnancy was so far removed from what I had anticipated that I was in relationship counselling, in a great deal of pain, and someone was suggesting that adoption was an option.”

Everybody seems to have an opinion on this issue.

Lex feels it's time to bring up his view on this matter.
Potential parents should be licensed. People shouldn't have the automatic right to have children. Why? because not everybody is mentally equipped to bring up children and the result is always emotionally and mentally disturbed children of emotionally and mentally disturbed parents. The cycle repeats itself.
Pedophile victims become pedophiles themselves. Children of alcoholics become alcoholics themselves. Children of poor parents have a disadvantaged childhood caused by neglect or mistreatment.

The lesbian couple who are behind this story clearly have the psychological profile of control freak (she specifically asked to doctor to implant only one egg and not the usual two).
So, what kind of a parent does a control freak make? Probably one that terrorizes and subdues all self-expression in the child. Even a healthy child will end up and adult with severe emotional problems after being raised by a control freak.

I agree lex.
Of course, using that logic I wouldn't be around.
It seems like a small sacrifice when I see all the kids that suffer from their parents nonsense.

Feel sorry for the kids. Imagine how dicked up they are going to be when they grow up.

Hammer, there isn't a perfect solution to any problem. Just think how many twisted individuals exist (born of defective parents) because we can't bear to think of the world without great people that were born of those maladjusted parents. It seems a high price to pay.
Jeannie, did I mention the mother was a lesbian?
Phosgene, my point exactly, it's always the children that have to suffer. God forbid these children fail to meet their parents' expectations.

I think we either grow up to be just like our parents or just the opposite. The sons and daughter of abusive parents often grow up to be extra passive and against any kind of corporal punishment for their children. Then you get spoiled little shits who need to be brought down a peg or two anyway. I guess it's a lose/lose situation all the way around. That sucks.
