So You Want to be a Muslim.

I don't have any thoughts on females born into a Muslim society, really I don't. But, I'm intrigued by those that are born and raised in western countries, with western a religion, and find it so appealing that they choose out of their own free will to convert to Islam. It is practices like female circumcision which is widely practiced but not necessarily amongst all Muslims that makes me cringe. If I was a female I certainly would be running for the hills because unlike the health issues that make male circumcision a practical choice, the removing of the female clitoris is pointless and ultimately cruel.
Of course, not all Muslim societies participate in this barbaric ritual.
There is also the consideration of living in a paradise like state, under Sharia Law. Ever thought about that one ladies? Consider this story and ask yourself if maybe Saudi Arabia is the place to be.

I wonder if there'll be a stampede of ladies rushing to convert to Islam after reading the above two links, veils fluttering in the wind as they rush headlong into the arms of Mullahs.

female circumcision is not practised in many parts of the muslim world. wherever it is practised, is shown out of proportion. But as far as my knowledge goes, it is not required for females.

punishing the victim more than the offender : it might have happened that the victim's behaviour, the clothes, gestures might have provoked the offender.. this might have been known during the trial and the victim has been punished more than the offender.
this does not come out to media, naturally, coz the whole world is standing on all legs to point out that the justice system in islam or islam itself is wrong. Muslims may err.. but the law of islam cant err. coz it is the law from God Himself. the executors are after all humans..

jawaharrjy, thanks for your comment and I do acknowledge that female circumcision isn't universal amongst all Muslim society.
On the other hand, Sharia Law and the way it deals with rape is well documented on the internet. I don't need to justify my arguments when there is plenty of evidence available. There was a video of a boy having his arm driven over for stealing - this was removed by censorship or sensitivity to Muslim outrage. There are videos of stoning to death of "criminals" for adultery. Don't give me any apologies when all I'm discussing are facts. Barbarity cannot be justified if it is practiced in the name of God. Too much barbarity has been justified by religions (in the history of mankind) in the name of God.

no, i am not trying to justify any thing. the two punishments u said above do exist in islam. they are not barbarism. but the name is given. punishment to the crime has to be appropriate to keep the society secure. this kind of punishments are implemented mostly in gulf region.

now, compare the theft rate and rate of rape crimes of those countries with the european and american countries.. it will answer ur questions.. even about burqa.

india is not an islamic country, for ur kind information. the incident u mentioned did take place, but not in islamic community as far as i remember.

so how many of the raped women come forward for justice in civilized societies?

a society should not be called barbaric based upon the punishments it inflicts to the offenders..

so what do u call a society where countless offences take place each day.. rapes, murders, massacres, tortures... civilized? hah!

witness is needed for any crime, not only for rape.. it is a must in any law. y was not saddam hussain sentenced to death without exhibiting any witnesses..?
