Tell me it's not true

Australia is in drought with the dams drying up faster than teardrops in hell.
So, who is using up all the water?, you ask.
We should all ask ourselves this question.
Is it the ordinary citizens?
Is is the farmers?
Is it industry?
Well, now we have an answer, it's the power company. Those who generate electricity are using up our precious water.
Why?
Because we don't have enough electricity and they are making extra electricity to provide other states. So, other states are indirectly causing the water shortage in Queensland because in NSW they don't have enough electricity.
Get It? I'll say it again, other states are indirectly causing the water shortage in Queensland because they don't have enough electricity.
Of course, in Victoria, when we had a major power blackout, it was because the electricity piped from NSW to Victoria was cut off by the bushfires. So Victoria is getting a major supply of electricity from NSW who is getting their electricity from Queensland.

This isn't a script for a new Monty Python episode. This is Australia in the new millennium.

Life is getting curiouser and curiouser and I have an image of Australia like Alice falling down the rabbit hole.

Getting in bed with the Muslims

Janet Albrechtsen has posted a very interesting article about the recent conference on understanding Muslims.

"The gig, aimed at polling attitudes and sponsored by The Australian, kicked off with much sweet talk about chatting to your Muslim neighbour and getting together for a barbecue or friendly game of AFL. Not a great start, I thought. Two of the London suicide bombers loved cricket. In fact, 22-year-old Shehzad Tanweer played a congenial game of cricket the day before he blew himself up. Each panellist seemed to be competing for a nice, warm round of applause. And they got it."

There is a relevant point raised by Janet, and that is, what is a "moderate Muslim"? What does a moderate believe in besides the label of being "moderate". Do moderates for example support terrorism? This is a valid question and remains unanswered amongst all the hype surrounding the efforts to understand the Muslim community. Or do moderated refrain from criticizing terrorism whilst not openly supporting it?

It seems that there is a lot of circumventing of the difficult questions in our desperate attempts to reassure ourselves that Muslims aren't really a threat, if we only learn to understand them better.

My attempts to understand Muslims hasn't been all that reassuring and I'm definitely not comfortable with the idea of them exercising influence on public policy and changing our society to meet their religious needs.

Drinking piss

I didn't mean to post an article about this subject but this is what happens when you start a search on the web, you get flooded with information.

For those of you who don't know, drinking piss is a sexual perversion called golden showers. Now, this isn't why I would want to discuss this subject.

It started with a comment I read about Mohammed advising on the health benefits of drinking camel's piss. I don't exaggerate here, this is a known fact.

So I did a google search on the "drinking piss" phrase. What came up was astounding.
The Thais consider it a health benefit.
There are many sights discussing the benefits and dangers of drinking piss.
What the fuck? I thought to myself...

I am 17 and straight. I have a weird question: I want to drink my own urine. I know it sounds crazy, but I want to try. What are the harmful effects, if any?

Signed,
Weird, but still curious

Wikipedia calls it Urophagia

Urine therapy

So now, dear reader, you know as much as I do. I wish I never started the subject.

Another great pic from englishrushia.com

Juxtaposition is the only word I can think of. Sometimes, words are irrelevant and the picture tells the whole story.

Islamification of Europe

Shiva has an interesting post of the movement SIOE (Stop the Islamification of Europe).

Of course, this isn't a problem here in Australia because the Muslim population is only 1.5% approx. and they don't have the numbers YET to become too assertive and make demands for change.
This is what is happening in Europe and only because the populations of Muslims are now reaching critical mass.
Sweden 1-4%
Denmark 2%
France 5-10%
UK 2.7%
Germany 3.7%
Netherlands 5.5%
Norway 1.8%

Critical mass can be assumed to be around 2% judging by these statistics. That is, in countries where Muslim populations reach 2% there is an upsurge in unrest, street protests, demands for change. It's only a rough guess but you get the idea.
By my reckoning, Australia isn't far away from experiencing the same degree of upheaval that has already occurred in Europe.
