David Hicks

David Hicks ( Australian, Taliban fighter,POW - accused of terrorism)

The most convincing argument in his defense I could find is this one. (see link)

As I understand it, he is entitled to justice by the Geneva Convention. Apparently,
The Geneva Conventions were drafted in an attempt to rescue a modicum of humanity from a war which had exposed the perniciousness of uncompromising brutality, concentration camps and show trials.
Humanity in War seems like an oxymoron to me. ( That's just my humble opinion)

There is a lot of sympathy for David Hicks. I don't know why.

I'm not sure if the sympathizers are more concerned with the rights of individuals or that justice must seen to be carried out or whether they see Hicks as innocent.
Personally, I would just dump him back in Afghanistan and forbid him from returning to Australia.

I've read about the incidents. I hope they aren't true. If they are
then I agree with you lexcen.

Hammer, the US paid $1000 for David Hicks from the Northern Alliance. I think they wasted their money. Put him back in Afghanistan with all the other monkeys. There's no point in wasting any more money in putting him on trial. A guilty verdict would inflame the conspiracy theorists and an innocent verdict would result in him asking for compensation. I don't favor compensating someone for gross stupidity and I can't see his actions as being a threat to anyone other than himself.
