Those readers of this blog who know me by now might expect that this latest rant might be about the story of Muslims burning Copts' (Christian) homes in Egypt. No, there is something more serious to rant about.
I'm referring to the withdrawal of pigs from toy stores to avoid offending Muslims and Jews. Now it's funny how up till now Jews have managed to not be offended but the Mulims...now that's another story.
TOY shop bosses removed a plastic pig from a children's toy farm set because they feared it would upset Muslim and Jewish parents.
A mother who complained to toy store Early Learning Centre (ELC) when she found the pig missing was told it had been removed for "religious reasons," British newspaper The Sun reported.
The mother, named only as Caroline, found there was no pig with the cow, sheep, chicken, horse and dog in the store's HappyLand Goosefeather Farm.
Caroline, who brought the toy for her daughter's first birthday, said the farm set still contained an empty sty and a button that made an oinking noise when pressed.
But after writing to ELC's customer services she got an email reply admitting the pig was removed in case it upset Muslim or Jewish parents.

So Muslims are unable to remove it on their own? Or have the toy shop remove it specifically for them? The toy shop couldn't have posted a sign saying the pig was removed to avoid offending anyone but the missing animal could be picked up at the checkout if desired? It's getting a mite ridiculous.

I wonder if fanatical Muslims may eventually start demanding that we stop showing images Piglet and Miss Piggy on TV.
The sub-text of my blog is that pigs are an integral part of our mythology/culture/folklore/fairytales etc and we will lose that culture by trying to be inoffensive to another culture that is intolerant and easily provoked to offense for the slightest and most trivial reason.
Don't forget that the festive season is approaching and many will be shy in mentioning Christmas for fear of offending Muslims.
I like how they implicate "Jewish parents" just for good measure!

I think I understood the subtext of what you were saying, but thanks for pointing it out for anyone who didn't understand it anyway.
