The Blind Leading the Blind

The Australian prime minister Julia Gillard wants Australia to lead the world. She wants Australia to be first in setting trends rather than just being a follower.
For example, she has been telling the European Union to learn and follow from Australia's example of economic wisdom and success...ho hum.
Now, with the Carbon Tax, to begin on July 1st, we are again leading the world.
The core idea behind the Carbon Tax is that with a hefty penalty imposed on businesses, they will be motivated to look for alternative, greener forms of energy. I wonder if our politicians also believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus and fairies at the bottom of the garden.
Now here's the catch, already Alcoa has been bailed out by $42 million dollars of taxpayers money (Carbon Tax money) because....of the Carbon Tax threatens the profitability and sustainability of the aluminium production business.
And so we jump on the merry -go - round of stupidity followed by stupidity in our attempts to lead the world is saving the planet.
