Windows Live Local

I tried the new offering from big brother (MS). There's an option to locate yourself using your IP address. Try it. Does anyone feel paranoid or is it just me?
First, I could use this to track down location of forces of darkness. (Good).
Others could use this to track me down and invade my privacy(Bad)
Big Brother could use it to locate all those software thieves, ouch!(bad)
Recording companies could use it to locate MP3 pirates (bad)
Stalkers could use it as a means to an end (bad)

But then I could just be paranoid.

That won't work with me!

I'm using a two way satellite system.
The location shown is that of the service providers NOC (network operations centre).

Right now its not working with me either. My antivirus is scanning my computer so maybe after things calm down I should try again.

My anti virus is done and I still can't get to the site.

i'm from somewhere in the not-too-distant-future... just TRY and track me down! here in the future, we don't use IP technology. everything is based loosely on biometric nipple printing. we don't type with our hands anymore, either. we found out a long time ago that the optimum position for a keyboard is between the legs, UNDER the table. men type away with their penii and the women of the future use their enlarged clitorii to type. Brings whole new meaning to the term ‘hammer your keyboard’, don’t ya think?

Point is,when I clicked on the option to locate me throught IP address, it did. Nice pic of my house and neighbourhood. With gooooooogle earth, I have to tell it where I am.

did you download the program? I thought it was another underhanded way to gain another little bit of control of your personal files. I won't download anything from google or MS that serves to show me where I am...besides, I kinda already have a good idea anyway. Now they do too. If it was a matter of just following an IP address that's one thing, but MS wants to stick something into your registry. That's a little too much control.
