Temporary Landscapes (Will's Photography)

I am constantly fascinated with Will's photos. He doesn't take pretty pictures of sunsets on the beach or landscapes of forest or oceans.

He documents the construction sites of NY city. Why bother? You may ask, but indeed why not? Construction sites are what I like to think of as "temporary landscapes". The are a fleeting as they are changing, moving towards the final monolith that will dominate the landscape around us for years to come.

Temporary landscapes can an abstract artists source of inspiration. All the lines, angles, blocks of space. When I look at Will's pix of construction sites, I see endless possibilities for subjects to paint. But that's not all,

Will photographs buildings and shows us the urban landscape that we might overlook, oblivious to the charms because we continue on our journey passing these buildings without giving them a second thought. Even graffiti has a charm all of its own, it changes the landscape, it transforms empty, bland walls into bright explosions of riotous color. And at night, the landscape is transformed into a dreamy, surreal vision, lit up by artificial light giving a warm golden glow to everything it illuminates.

Thanks Will, keep up the good work.
