Scientology

This is an article that highlights the Church of Scientology.
First, let's see how long it takes before a spokesman for the church responds to this article. I believe they are extremely proactive in defending their beliefs. I should expect a response to my blog within minutes of it being posted. We will see....
There is an interesting interview with L. Ron Hubbard's estranged son, Ron DeWolfe from way back in 1982.
This is worth reading because it gives a history of how it all began, with L.Ron Hubbard of course. The interview is worth a read if you don't know the details or haven't read it before.

Scientology is back in the news in Australia because our richest citizen, Mr Jamie Packer has converted to these beliefs (or so I read) since he met Tom Cruise.
I think the younger generation would be unfamiliar with the Church of Scientology since they have kept a low profile...until Tom Cruise started belligerently pushing his beliefs. This means that although young people are now familiar with the name of the Church, they would have very little knowledge of its history.
In fact I can remember when it was banned in Australia. Not anymore of course, but think about it. This is a Church that was actually banned from practising their beliefs by the government. I can't think of any other church that has been banned by the government. There must have been a reason, although I'm unable to uncover the reasons behind the ban at this stage.
Still, everything is OK now, and people are free to believe whatever they want, even Islam.

Scientology uses lawsuits to quash people who want to speak out against them. They have ruined many lives. They charge tens and hundreds of thousands for "classes" to become "clear"

Thats not a church. But I agree people should be allowed to practice what they want.

Hammer,JP, I agree, but where is the comment from the Scientology spokesman? Am I invisible? Am I irrelevant? Don't I pose a threat to them? Maybe my comments should be more acerbic.
