Dr Haneef, guilty or not guilty?

A series of incidents does not make a crime? or does it?
Read the latest revelations on Dr Haneef and judge for yourself.

I'm convinced that the current laws are inadequate to deal with the threat of terrorism.

Short of making guilt by association a crime, I cannot see how else it is possible to apprehend someone before they actually commit the crime of terrorism.

Don't forget that if those involved in 9/11 were arrested before the event, they could not have been convicted of any crime, unless learning to fly a plane without bothering to learn how to land it is considered a crime.

It is a dilemma faced by all legal systems in the world.

A crime of this sort is not a crime unless it is actually committed.

I don't have any answers.

What about conspiracy to commit a crime?

hammer, that would come under the category of thought crime.

Have you seen the movie, Minority Report?

paul, yes I have. I think we need something right now to combat thought crime.

The terrorists are always one step ahead. If you start data-mining thoughts they'll start wearing tinfoil helmets to thwart your efforts.

Lex, part of the reason I linked to your blog is because I like to see other peoples perspectives. Even though it differs from mine in many ways, yours is an interesting one and it's worth the read. Whether or not you come to mine is up to you, but I'll still read your blog if you don't mind. I won't be hassling you with derogatory comments or challenging you. Just humor, you know?
