Is the End Nigh?

Nostradamus.Image via WikipediaI haven't read the latest edition of Watchtower recently but the thought sticks in my mind that in the light of world events recently, could it be that what has been predicted for a long time, I think not since Nostradamus put pen to paper, has the world been closer to time when the end is nigh.

Look at the signs.

1. Climate change threatens humanities very existence.

2. The economic meltdown is just beginning and it's gone be bigger the the party of 1929.

3. A pseudo Christian ex-Muslim is about the take the reigns in the U.S.A.

4. The world is running out of oil.

5. Radical Islam is making progress into our western world like never before.

6. No major war since WW2. Too much peace is not good for the economy. Nothing like war to stimulate the arms industry and we all know how critical that industry is for the good of the economy. Not to forget the technological innovations that filter down from war technology.
The world economy is just dying, excuse the pun, for a major stimuli that only war can bring.

7. Christian fundamentalists will be nodding their heads to the notion that pornography is rampant and family values in decline like never before.

8. The automobile industry in the U.S.A is ready to collapse. If it wasn't for the arms industry financed by government spending, then only god knows had bad the U.S. economy might really be. Another good reason for a major war.

9. The Chinese have usurped the U.S.A as the most important economy in the world. With economic power comes political power and influence. That was the position of the U.S.A but this position is no longer sustainable.

But, I'm optimistic.

Perhaps not the end, but you make a good argument for "the brink." We are on the brink of . . . ?? Of all the concerns you list, I'd put economic collapse at the top. That may actually stall the clash of civilizations and slow global warming. That would be nice.

For nanc,

"There must be some way out of here," said the joker to the thief,
"There's too much confusion, I can't get no relief.
Businessmen, they drink my wine, plowmen dig my earth,
None of them along the line know what any of it is worth."

"No reason to get excited," the thief, he kindly spoke,
"There are many here among us who feel that life is but a joke.
But you and I, we've been through that, and this is not our fate,
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late."

All along the watchtower, princes kept the view
While all the women came and went, barefoot servants, too.

Outside in the distance a wildcat did growl,
Two riders were approaching, the wind began to howl.

Obviously Bob Dylan is a Jehova's Witness;-)
