Prick up your ears and listen
Oaklahoma is considering Sharia Law.
This is not a joke!
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (CNN) -- Oklahoma voters are considering an unusual question that will appear on their ballots this Tuesday: whether Islamic law can be used in considering cases in state court.
Here are a few things to consider:
WTF were they thinking when they let Muslims into Oaklahoma?
Did they think that Muslims would quietly integrate into the community and adopt American values?
Did they think that Islam was just another religion?
Are you surprised that Muslims would want Sharia Law? Shame on you for being so ignorant.
Do you have no problem with Sharia Law in the U.S.A.? Shame on you for being so naive.

Lexcen,
Actually you could argue that what's going on there is a good thing. They are basically trying to pass a constitutional amendment banning the use of Sharia Law in their state. As you can imagine, the stealth jihadists don't like it. I happen to live in America which Oaklahoma is a part of, and I wish we could do a national anti sharia law constitutional amendment. Just about anything we can do to make things harder on Muslim fundamentalists is a good thing. Now I know that we already have the first amendment that guarantees freedom of religion and the separation of church and state, which includes Islam, so it would be more accurate to say religious institution and state. However, If the American constitution specifically banned sharia as well, groups like CAIR would have to deny that they were advancing sharia, even when they were. Not to mention that if the American constitution specifically mentioned sharia as something forbidden and explained why it was contrary to American values it would get more Americans to think of Sharia as something inherently bad, thus making it harder for sharia supporters to gain sympathy here.
It might also encourage the rest of the western world to do the same.
Damien, I'd agree with you but on the other hand, there are laws in place to prevent discrimination and the Muslims have managed to circumvent these laws in my community to make concessions to their religious beliefs. Also, there is always the risk that Sharia Law will be allowed in Oaklahoma purely because of ignorance by the majority.
In the U.K for example, you have people like the Archbishop of Canterbury saying Sharia Law is unavoidable. A news article dated 14 September 2008 reads that Sharia Law has already been adopted in areas of the U.K.
A parallel development has been occurring in Australia where aboriginal law has been introduced for aboriginals rather than put them through the ordinary legal system. This has been condemned by certain members of the aboriginal community. What hasn't even been considered is that many people who have 1% aboriginal blood claim rights and benefits designated for Australian aborigines. Consider the chaos involved if these people choose to be tried in what is colloquially known as Koori courts rather than the established legal system. To me this is just another example of the insanity of multi-culturism let loose in society.
Also, consider the case of different laws in each state of the U.S. and how Muslims might exploit this variance by asking for trials to be conducted in a different state if Oaklahoma does reject Sharia Law.
Lexcen,
I understand, your concerns are valid. However, I think that just getting Sharia Law to be seen as inherently bad in America and the west in general, will be a significant step towards solving the problem.
By the way, I didn't know that about the Australian aborigines.
Oh Yeah, the good ole Koori Courts are an AWESOME example of the failure of multiculturalism.

I can't see it going through in Oklahoma - they are all Southern Baptist there.
Jeannie,
I hope that you're wrong about Oklahoma's anti Sharia amendment not being able to pass.
Good News guys. It passed.
Oklahoma bans stonings, amputations for theft, death for apostates, Muslims cry "Islamophobia"
First Tenessee and now Oaklahoma. I am afraid of Sharia so I must be an Islamophobe, no apologies for that.
