Every cloud has a silver lining

For all of those readers who expressed sympathy for K's illness, I thank you and appreciate your comments.
The good news is that the mystery illness that struck suddenly and left her in a state of dementia has passed and she is recovering rapidly. Although still in hospital at a rehab centre, this week she has been able to talk normally and her memory, which has suffered badly, seems to be returning to normal.
In fact, this sudden onset of illness and rapid return to normality was what her regular psychiatrist predicted. True dementia which affects those people in old age is gradual and occurs over an extended period of time.
Although modern medicine can do miracles, it seems that when in comes to the human brain, there is still much that remains a mystery. In fact, doctors who examined K had many theories but none were able to pinpoint what caused her problem, what medication to prescribe or give any treatment. Recovery occurred in its own time and without the aid of medicine or surgery.

Upon reflection, I would dismiss all of those financial advisers who preach the need for a nest egg large enough to finance a comfortable lifestyle in retirement.
It seems to me that retirement is a period of life in which frequent visits to the doctor and extended stays in hospital become the norm. In fact the only real and necessary provisions required are adequate health insurance.

That is great news. I'm now waiting for one of your Christian readers to take credit for the recovery because of their prayers.

So glad she's better. How strange though that this could happen. Or not so strange. You must be relieved at any rate.
